Sharing Economy: Rachel Botsman

Global Business

Available for over a year

The ‘sharing economy’ or collaborative consumption, as it is also known, is about sharing your things with strangers who you have connected with online. You could have someone to stay in your spare room or your sofa, lend your neighbour your car, share your clothes, even your time. Rachel Botsman is a guru on the sharing economy. She coined the phrase ‘collaborative consumption’ and is the author of the influential book What’s Mine is Yours. In part two of Sharing Economy, Peter Day talks with Rachel about this movement - how it puts 20th Century consumerism in a whole different light, its economic implications for this century and the stumbling blocks along the way.
