Blackburn: There was 'no cover-up' over Savile

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Tony Blackburn launched Radio 1 in 1967 and recently received a lifetime achievement award for broadcasting. He told Richard Bacon that although there were rumours at the time surrounding the behaviour of his colleague Jimmy Savile, there was no proof at the time of his offending and no cover-up by others. “Rumours, rumours, rumours but you can’t go and report somebody when you haven’t seen anybody do anything wrong, it would be wrong,” said Mr Blackburn. This clip is from Richard Bacon programme on 14 May.
