£50,000 salary and 'living on poverty'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Paul says he's living on the poverty line, despite earning £50,000, due to his high rental costs. He says he is unable to save for a deposit for a house for his family and there "are no prospects of it getting better". The Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander, has said to ease the pressure on house supply and prices twice as many new homes need to be built as are currently being constructed. This clip is from Your Call on Tuesday 20 May 2014.
