Harriet was 16 when she was knocked down by a speeding car in Brighton. She suffered multiple injuries and spent ten days in a coma. Martin was the paramedic who treated her at the scene, and visited her in hospital while she was in the coma. Harriet had never met him when 'awake' and wanted to ask him about the accident, about which she remembers nothing. Martin had been profoundly affected by Harriet's accident, especially as his eldest daughter is the same age, and left the profession not long after.
