Now the trams are running were they worth all the hassle?

Morning Call

Available for over a year

We're live in Edinburgh this morning for a special edition of Morning Call. Years late and, at a cost of £776million, running 50% over budget Edinburgh's controversial tram system is now fully operational. The first paying passengers hopped on board on Saturday at 05:00 and today represents the first full working day for commuters to use the service. For years it's a subject that's engendered intense emotions from Edinburgh residents as some of the City's busiest and most iconic streets have been severely disrupted by construction work. Contractual disputes, political intervention, missed deadlines and overspending are just some of the issues that have blighted a project that's lurched from crisis to farce to fiasco. Louise asks: Now the trams are running were they worth all the hassle?
