Vincent d'Indy

Composer of the Week

Available for over a year

Donald Macleod explores the music and life of a man who is not a household name nowadays, but in his own time was celebrated for his composing and was a hugely influential musical educator. Vincent d'Indy was greatly influenced by the works of Richard Wagner, to the extent of composing what became known as the 'French Parsifal', his opera 'Fervaal'. He also founded the influential Schola Cantorum in Paris but in later years his reputation became tarnished by his overt anti-Semitism.
