UK seeks to overturn US haggis ban

World Update

Available for over a year

The UK government is making a fresh bid to overturn a decades-long US import ban on traditional Scottish haggis. Eating sheep lungs, a key ingredient of haggis along with heart and liver, has been banned in the US since the 1970s. Haggis maker Jo MacSween says lifting the ban is overdue – but first you’ll hear poet Robert Burns’ tribute to the Scottish food. (Photo: Haggis on sale at Butcher's shop.
