Range owner: Children can still shoot despite gun death

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The owner of a shooting range on which a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot her instructor says he will still allow children to use guns on his premises. It is thought the girl, who was having a shooting lesson on the Arizona range, lost control of an Uzi high-powered submachine gun. Her instructor, 39-year-old Charles Vacca, was shot in the head and died after being flown to hospital in Las Vegas. Sam Scarmando, owner of the Last Stop shooting range, said he would "review the rules" but insisted children would still be able to shoot as long as their parents were present. This clip is originally from Drive on Wednesday 27 August 2014.
