Islamic State calls for foreign female recruits

World Update

Available for over a year

The Islamic State is calling for women to join them - and experts in the UK estimate at least 50 British women may have already travelled to Iraq and Syria, although the figure is probably much higher. Melanie Smith, a research associate at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation at King's College London, has been monitoring the recruitment of women by Islamic State. She told us about the journey of one woman. (Photo: A man waves an IS flag in Raqqa, Syria. Credit: REUTERS/Stringer)
