Hastings: Leaders acting like 'children' on foreign policy

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Sir Max Hastings says Western leaders have "a lot of growing up to do" if the crises in the Middle East and Ukraine are to be resolved. The historian said Prime Minister David Cameron's remarks about military action against Islamic State militants were "silly" and Downing Street officials acted like "children". "What we look for in leaders is calm, good sense and reassurance and frankly, we haven't had it," Sir Max said. This clip is originally from Tony Livesey on Thursday 4 September 2014.
