The Franklin expedition to discover the North West Passage, led by Sir John Franklin, left Greenhithe England, in May 1845. The final fate of the explorers is still unknown despite numerous investigations but an important piece of the puzzle has been discovered. John Geiger, the Chief Executive of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, said that the newly discovered wreck of one of the expedition's two ships in the Canadian Arctic could hold important clues to the fate of the Franklin party. But it was, he said, a tale with some grisly turns. This clip is originally from Phil Williams on Tuesday 9 September 2014.
