Head of 'unteachable' students: Education has gone wrong

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The headteacher of a special school for students deemed "unteachable" says "education has gone wrong." Claire Lillis' school, Ian Mikardo High in East London, was featured on Channel 5's documentary Too Tough to Teach. She said the problem with education was that "enjoyment was gone" from the syllabus, and "emotional wellbeing" of children was not considered enough. This clip is originally from Afternoon Edition on 7 October 2014.
