Family courts must do more to take into account the wishes of children when deciding custody disputes between parents, according to Family Justice minister Simon Hughes. It comes after he announced plans to make it normal practice for children aged ten and over to speak to the judge and make their views known. One 15-year-old who experienced the family court system since the age of three is Emma, (not her real name).
