Bottesford, Leicestershire: Children at War

World War One At ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½

Available for over a year

Bottesford is a large village in north Leicestershire, and the day by day impact of war is described in the village school headmaster’s log book. He details the fundraising activities the children take to help the forces, the losses of ex pupils, and increasingly the days spent in the fields around the village as the schoolchildren harvested, and did the work of the men who had left to fight. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester’s Bridget Blair has been to the Bottesford to meet today’s village schoolchildren and to see the log books of one hundred years ago. Location: Bottesford Primary School, Bottesford, Leicestershire NG13 0BS Image: Mr Collett, courtesy of David Middleton
