Students construct a scale replica of Queen Mary 2's funnel

Julian Clegg

Available for over a year

Students at an Eastleigh engineering school have unveiled their latest project. It's a 1/12 scale model of Queen Mary 2's funnel. The pupils at Quilley School of Engineering undertook the project using the original drawings and we helped by a former Cunard engineer who worked on the original liner. Stephen Payne, the designer of Cunard's current flagship was on hand to see the funnel revealed. He explained to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Solent's Neil Sackley what the funnel on a modern cruise ship actually does.
