Ben Burgess: Why I retired from football to be a teacher

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Teaching primary school age children may not be the first job that comes to mind after a career in professional football. But for former Hull City and Blackburn player Ben Burgess, becoming a teacher after retiring from football in 2012 was the obvious choice. He now teaches Year 4 at Hawes Side Academy in Blackpool, and told 5 live Daily's Adrian Chiles that although the job was "a completely different world", he loved it. "Scoring a goal - there's probably no better feeling in the world," he said. "But when someone goes, 'I get that now! It's clicked!' It's like, yes! I don't know if it's joy or relief." This clip is originally from 5 live Daily on November 25 2014.
