Marine biologists investigating a spate of porpoise killings in the North Sea have identified a surprise culprit - grey seals. A team of scientists investigating why bodies of mutilated porpoises have been washing up on the shores of the Netherlands and Belgium have used dna technology to identify the cuddly grey seal as the culprit. Dr Mardik Leopold said it's concievable that seals could eventually start attacking humans. "It's a fairly big step to go from eating fish to eating mammals. It would seem to be a smaller step to go from eating one mammal to the next. I would be cautious with the seals."
