Should the use of reindeers at Christmas events be banned?

Morning Call

Available for over a year

Animal rights campaigners have called for a ban on reindeer being used during Christmas events. Peta have written to numerous local authorities asking them not to involve reindeer in events as they say it's "unethical" and an "unsuitable environment which will leave them stressed and afraid" and would "compromise the well-being of the animals." In response to the campaign and in an attempt to avoid disruption by activists The Caingorm Reindeer Herd, who've provided animals for events across the country for decades, have asked people not to mention the locations of their shows on Facebook. They insist "We know our reindeer are very happy and comfortable in their work - otherwise we wouldn't take them to parades." Louise asks: Should the use of reindeers at Christmas events be banned?
