Obese person and an employer discuss new legislation

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The European Court of Justice has ruled that - in some cases - obesity can be classed as a disability under European law. The court says that if obesity could hinder "full and effective participation" at work then it could count as a disability. Tim Stoodly owns several businesses and says "i believe" my clients would be "less inclined" to hire a cleaner who is larger. Body Size Diversity Campaigner Kathryn Szrodecki, who is obese herself, says "I'd like to encourage every obese person to apply for a job with Tim and see how far we get". This clip is originally from 5 live Daily on December 18 2014.
