Sister of UK man shot by US police officer wants investigation

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Jaspreet Garcha, the sister of Sharrinder Garcha, who was shot in the head after allegedly assaulting Wisconsin police officer, said her brother's death doesn't "make sense". Sharrinder was 19 years old when he left his home in the Midlands to travel to Florida to meet a 17 year old girl he was involved with, and was shot in the head on November 14 2014. Jaspreet said her brother had no criminal record, and was "a nice boy" who has "never been violent to anyone". She does not believe that her brother would have assaulted the police officer who shot him, as no one was there to witness the alleged incident. The police claim he then assaulted Detective William Gray in a patrol car with a knife, and say detective Gray was forced to shoot him in self-defence. This clip is originally from 5 live Daily on Friday 2 January 2015.
