To escape her cold upbringing Alison left her family in search of warmer climes abroad. After the years of teenage wanderlust she returned to the UK to live with a man, but a long way away from the fells, and the older sister that she had left behind. When that relationship went sour Alison ended up being emotionally and physically hurt, and the shock of being hospitalised made her realise, that after all, Sedburgh in Cumbria is the home where her heart is.
