Harper Lee to publish Mockingbird 'sequel'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

An unpublished novel by Harper Lee is to finally see the light of day, 60 years after the US author put it aside to write To Kill a Mockingbird. Go Set a Watchman, which features the character Scout Finch as an adult, will be released on 14 July. Jeanie Thompson is from Harper Lee's home state of Alabama, and has met the US writer on a number of occasions as part of the Alabama Writers Forum. "She's now humbled and amazed it will be published after all these years," Thompson said. This clip is originally from Up All Night on Wednesday 4 February 2015.
