'Oldest' female rig worker: Oil price drop left me jobless

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A great-grandmother, thought to be the UK's oldest female rig worker, says the tumbling price of crude oil has led job offers to dry up. 73-year-old Pat Thompson, from Matlock, Derbyshire, has been managing teams on rigs for decades and used to have two or three offers each month to take her by helicopter to busy sites. However, since the fall in the oil price she says agencies are not calling her back. Leading oil firms have cut jobs in the North Sea in recent weeks. This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Monday 9 February 2015.
