5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

A worker claims protective guards had been removed from a machine that severed his hand. He was carrying out repairs at a waste and recycling plant in the North of England when his hand became trapped in a roller. Figures from the Health and Safety Executive reveal that the waste sector has a poor safety record and classifies the industry as "high risk". The waste industry says it is working hard to improve safety. This clip is originally from 5 live Investigates on Sunday 15 February 2015.
