People with learning disabilities forced into marriage

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

It's a hidden scandal in Britain's minority communities - forced marriage of people with learning disabilities. Many are born in the UK but taken abroad for their wedding. In some cases, it's because the family believe it is the best hope of getting a carer for their son or daughter. In others, it is done for money or to get a visa. Adrian Goldberg speaks to a British Pakistani woman who took her daughter with learning disabilities abroad to find a husband. Because she was concerned about people in her community finding out we've changed her voice. This clip is originally from 5 Live Investigates on Sunday 1 March 2015.
