Are princesses bad role models?

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

With Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella adaptation set to hit UK screens this week and Disney announcing a Frozen sequal, New Statesman columnist, and mum of two, Sarah Ditum says princesses do not make good role models for girls. She said characters on screen tell children what we expect them to be, and princesses portray a "very small" and narrow version of what a girl should be. Events planner, and princess party organiser, Lisa Forbes believes princesses are "positive role models" who help children "feel good about themselves". This clip is originally from 5 live Breakfast on Thursday 19 March 2015.
