Lancashire: Two Schools, Two Perspectives

Today

Available for over a year

As part of our coverage of 100 seats in the 100 days, our reporter Sanchia Berg went to visit schoolchildren in two neighbouring constituencies, Wyre and Preston North and Blackpool South, in the North West. In a less affluent Blackpool School, fewer than half of the pupils said they would vote. One student said 鈥渕y mum鈥檚 a single parent so she doesn鈥檛 get a lot of money鈥e used to struggle to find places where we could all go鈥. They said they aren鈥檛 interested in politics. In Wyre and Preston North, pupils were more aware of the differences between political parties and almost all of them would vote. Less than 7% of them lived in poverty and these students have more immediate concerns. 鈥淎 zebra crossing outside the school 鈥 could really make a difference here鈥, said one school girl.
