The vacant job at the helm of English cricket is a "poisoned chalice", according to former England all-rounder, Derek Pringle. He was speaking to 5 live's Phil Williams after the departure of the English Cricket Board's managing director, Paul Downton. "It's a bit of a poisoned chalice at the moment," says Pringle, "although I suppose England can't descend any further. I've heard Andrew Strauss' name banded around. I'm not sure the time's quite right for him". Pringle also said Michael Vaughan could be a candidate, "if he wants it". But he ruled himself out, saying "the players have got to deliver on the pitch.
