Edward Chin was the US Marine who put the American flag on the head of the Saddam Hussein statue and put a noose round its neck. He was a Corporal with the US Marines in 2003 and remembered what happened 12 years ago. "At first we tried to pull it with a cable round the bottom of the statue, but soon we realised that wasn't gonna happen, because if that cable had snapped it would not have been good...so I had the idea that I would climb up the crane and attach the chain to the top of the statue to pull it down, I'm on the way up when my commanding officer hands me a package and says there's an American flag in there".
