Warnham, Sussex: The Village Army

World War One At ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½

Available for over a year

Warnham, like many other villages in the country, was profoundly affected by the Great War. It wasn’t fought on its doorstep but the villagers rallied for their men who had crossed the channel to fight for Old Blighty. From the wartime cookery classes to the ladies sewing circles and the schoolchildren who were sent out to pick fruit; war brought people together. Author Steve Lancaster and historian Susan Overton welcome us to Warnham: the village at war. Location: Warnham, Horsham, West Sussex RH12 3QP Image: Warnham then and now, courtesy of Steve Lancaster
