Hammersmith and Ealing North: Housing

Today

Available for over a year

As part of the programme's series covering 100 seats in the 100 days to the election, John Humphrys has been looking at the issue of housing in the West London constituencies of Ealing North and Hammersmith. Sylvia works on Shepherd's Bush market and was able to buy her council house through right to buy, but she worries about her grandchildren's ability to buy their own property "My grandchildren have got no chance whatsoever of buying a flat...they work but where can they get the deposit?" she said. Chris Kerr is a local estate agent who has seen radical changes in the area and says it's tough for all buyers. "I think there's a lot of parental help... the bank of mum and dad exists and in many cases the bank of mum and dad are helping out significantly," he says.
