Sam Moore tributes the late Ben E King

The World Tonight

Available for over a year

The Sam and Dave singer shared his memories of Soul singer and songwriter Ben E King - a man he considered a friend. He said "I never called him Benny or Ben E King. I called him 'Benjamine' and he called me Samuel" Ben E.King began his career in the late 1950s, with the Drifters, singing hits like Save the Last Dance for me. But his best known song was Stand By Me -- which first made the charts in 1961 and then again in the 1980's when it featured in an advert and a film of the same name. He died today aged 76.
