Roche: Women’s football ‘a different game’ to men’s

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Women's football is "a different game to men's" and should not be compared, Ireland centre forward Stephanie Roche claims. Roche, who was the only female finalist for the 2014 Fifa Puskas Award for goal of the year, said women's football was slower but more "technical". "For me it’s entertaining to watch, it’s just people are used to watching Real Madrid and Barcelona playing fast-flowing football. It’s difficult for us to compete with that," she said. Asked by Fi Glover if things would change, Roche said: "It's just the way it is. It's just the way women play football". This clip is originally from 5 live Hit List on Sunday 14 June 2015
