Sherlock Holmes boosts Portsmouth tourism

As one of the world's most famous fictional detectives, Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed by dozens of actors. Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jnr, David Mitchell, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing to name a few. He famously lives and works from 221B Baker Street in London, but his roots are firmly based in Portsmouth. The city council holds the worlds largest collection of Arthur Conan Doyle memorabilia, a lot of which can be seen at the City Museum. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Solent reporter Neil Sackley has been doing some detective work about Sherlock's creator.
