Ramadan: Calls for shorter fasting hours

Ajmal Hussain

Available for over a year

This year’s Ramadan and its timing means that in England daylight hours are at their longest. In recent years the long duration of fasting in the summer months has raised a debate amongst Muslim scholars. Some say Muslims can have shorter fasts and they have issued a fatwa, others though feel it is wrong to have do this. In this extract Paul Salahuddin, the co-director of the Association of British Muslims, speaks to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Stoke’s Ajmal Hussain about shorter fasting hours.
