The Ark of Taste: The Pindan Nut

The Food Programme

Available for over a year

The Pindan Walnut, known locally as ‘Kumpaja’, is a small nut with a big story to tell. Harvested from the wild by local Aboriginal people, its habitat is increasingly under threat from wildfires and industrial expansion. In this week's Ark of Taste, Dan Saladino reports on a new initiative to cultivate the nut commercially, which works with local Aboriginal communities to finally bring recognition to this indigenous Australian bush food.
