Atherton: 'McGrath played on my mind a lot'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former England captain Mike Atherton admits rivalry with Australia fast bowler Glenn McGrath affected him mentally. The pair faced each other between 1994 and 2001 - McGrath claiming the scalp of Atherton's wicket 19 times, with plenty of verbals thrown the England captain's way whilst at the crease. McGrath is unapologetic regarding his actions, stating: "if you have a bit of a hold over the opening batsman, it helps my cause, it helps our cause". This clip first appeared on 5 live Sport 01 July 2015.
