Episode details

Available for over a year
There might be all the fun of the fair at the annual Hoppings but it does not mean the children of the showmen and women get to miss lessons. Each year a pop-up school is held on the Town Moor for two weeks. Supply teachers come from Durham, Sunderland and Northumberland and classroom assistants are recruited from local sixth forms in Newcastle to help out. It means almost 100 children aged three to 16 can continue their education. Picture: Jacky Longstaff Audio: Murphy Cobbing
