Coe right person to win anti-drugs 'arms race'

Today

Available for over a year

Newly elected IAAF president Sebastian Coe is the right person to win the anti-drugs "arms race", according to the head of UK Athletics. Ed Warner said the former Olympic 1,500m champion had been "very vociferous in speaking out against cheats in our sport". "It is an arms race and we need to devote greater resources", said Mr Warner. "Too often these things get kicked into the long grass." Anti-doping was not a key factor in the IAAF election and presenting himself as an anti-doping crusader might have worked against Coe as he had to appeal to an electorate of 214 nations, said Mr Warner.
