Sam Burgess backed to make World Cup impact for England

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Sam Burgess can make a big impact for England at the Rugby World Cup says winger Mark Cueto. Burgess, who switched codes from rugby league last year has been included in Stuart Lancaster鈥檚 squad, and former England winger Cueto says he鈥檚 shown his quality on the international stage. 鈥淗e鈥檚 an incredible individual on the field, there鈥檚 no doubt about his ability, his strength, his power and his skill鈥, he said. 鈥淧robably a month ago I didn鈥檛 think he was ready for the World Cup but with his two performances he鈥檚 played in an England shirt you鈥檝e got to throw him in there. 鈥淗e is such an obvious big game player. He鈥檚 only been in rugby union for eight months and it鈥檚 no coincidence that his two best performances in those eight months have been for England as opposed to Bath. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 think he鈥檚 a starter but as we鈥檝e seen with those impacts off the bench he lifts the team鈥, Cueto added. England begin their World Cup campaign against Fiji on Friday 18 September. This clip is from 5 live Sport, Sunday 13 September 2015.
