Britain's Opposition Labour Party Turns Leftward

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Britain has just experienced what's being described as a political earthquake. Its main opposition Labour Party has chosen a leader from the left wing of the party. Jeremy Corbyn was elected by grassroots party members, on a wave of enthusiasm for his anti-austerity message as well as promises to scrap Britain's nuclear weapons and renationalise the railways. The party is in turmoil. Several high profile MPs have resigned from its top team. So what will the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn look like? We asked one senior politician in the new Labour team, shadow foreign secretary, Hilary Benn. (Picture: Hilary Benn, Britain's Shadow Foreign Secretary. Picture Credit: Getty Images.)
