The knock on the door that alerted Keswick Mountain Rescue to a life threatening fall. It was team member Dave who was first on the scene, after John's oldest friend and walking companion Alan had run for help, after watching him slip and land unconscious in a swollen Sour Milk Ghyll. His quick thinking prevented him from drowning, but the race was now on to get him airlifted to hospital. Rescuer and rescued relive that day when the weather closed in, and a pleasant walk from Ennerdale Bridge to Seathwaite turned nasty.
