Alistair Darling: I don't know what Jeremy Corbyn stands for

Today

Available for over a year

Alistair Darling, Labour politician and chancellor of the exchequer from 2007 to 2010, said that the new Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn "needs to spell out where he stands on key issues" or he'll "never get off the ground". "I know what he's against, but I'm not actually sure what he's for". When asked about the possibility of John McDonnell becoming chancellor of the exchequer, Mr. Darling said, "I think it would be wrong to say things can never happen. Just at the moment it seems to me to be difficult, but I am willing to be surprised."
