5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Former captain All Kellock says it鈥檒l mean a lot to South African born Josh Strauss to represent Scotland at the Rugby World Cup. The back row forward only qualified to represent Scotland on the eve of the tournament but Kellock, who captained Strauss at Glasgow, says he鈥檚 spoken to the number eight about what comes with playing for international rugby. 鈥淚鈥檝e had a lot of conversations with Josh about it and I know how much he thinks about it and I鈥檝e also told him that now that he鈥檚 Scottish he鈥檚 probably going to get a little bit better looking and probably get a little bit taller as well and be a better player, so hopefully that will come about as well,鈥 he said. 鈥淗e鈥檚 working hard on the accent, he took a good six months to understand me at all but he鈥檚 working hard on it.鈥 Kellock added that he鈥檚 sure it鈥檒l mean as much to Strauss to represent Scotland as any other player. 鈥淚 would say that I talked for many years as a captain about motivating factors and there are different motivating factors in every member of your team,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he world鈥檚 changed, people are moving around so much that it鈥檚 a reality that people are going to pull on a jersey that doesn鈥檛 necessarily represent where they grow up but he will be as motivated as anyone else on that part.鈥 Scotland begin their World Cup campaign against Japan. This clip is from the Friday Sports Panel, Friday 18 September 2015.
