Have you ever stopped to question whether you are happy at work? There is one quite prominent thinker who thinks Britain could be a happier and more caring place. It is the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, who has been in London this week promoting a course on how to be happy, including in the office. Over the past few decades, the study of human well-being and happiness has become an established scientific discipline. And, in the UK, the Office for National Statistics is developing measures of well-being so government policies can "be tailored to the things that matter". So, do Brits in particular need to learn how to cheer up? Emily Thomas reports. (Picture: The Dalai Lama. Credit: Getty Images)
