The Siege of Leningrad

My Century

Available for over a year

Elena Taranukhina lived through the siege of Leningrad during World War II. "I remember sleeping in a fur coat. We had no water or electricity. Imagine that when the temperatures were minus 40 degrees. We burnt furniture: chairs tables and books to keep warm. You can't understand. It was very, very difficult for us then."
