Chief Emeka Ojukwu led the Biafran war of secession in Nigeria from 1967 - 1970. He recalls: "We felt the world owed us understanding and that was the one thing the world never gave us. "Our people suffered greatly. They were deprived. They were bombarded. And they were rendered totally destitute."
