Africa and the Second World War - Part Three

African Perspective

Available for over a year

The battle for Burma became vital for the outcome of World War II. Among the troops sent there were men from East and West Africa. They travelled by ship to India and from there the soldiers went north to Burma. African veterans recall the hardships, fighting the Japanese and taking prisoners. What happened to the soldiers once they returned after the war? Presented by Martin Plaut.
