The counties of West Africa need major investment to build health systems capable of dealing effectively with future outbreaks of diseases such as Ebola. They face both a lack of medical facilities and a severe lack of medical staff says Joanne Lui, the International President of Medicins Sans Frontieres, the first organisation to alert the world to the scale of the outbreak back in March 2014.
