One Direction in (about) a minute

Broadcasting House

Available for over a year

Once upon a time, five young men met on the X Factor, passed many tests and went onto become One Direction, the biggest boy band on the planet. For nearly five years a shared dream of wealth and fame kept them facing in the same direction. But then appeared pop music's familiar four horsemen of the apocalypse…egos, burnout, drugs and greed. Last night's gig in Sheffield may have been the last, so for the sake of those who mourn, we asked entertainment correspondent Colin Patterson to sum up just what made the boy band beautiful.
